As a child, his older brother was not interested in continuing the tradition, so his mother asked him if he'd like to do some oriental medicine. He accepted and beginning in middle school, his grandfather took him on as an apprentice. Dr. Kim had had great sucessful experiences with his grandfather in Asia [China, Korea, Japan...].
