Deborah Vaphides, Acupuncturist in Montclair
“As an Acupuncturist who specializes in Fertility, nothing is more satisfying to me than helping a woman realize her dream to conceive and carry a baby to term. Although there certainly is some degree of "Magic" in the ancient art of Acupuncture, there is plenty of technique, science and research that proves it's effectiveness for infertility. I believe that ongoing communication with my patient's physicians is in the best interest of my patient's success. I am on staff at Reproductive Medicine Associates (RMA), using laser acupuncture with IVF treatment.

David Vrsalovic, Acupuncturist in Montclair
“My approach has combined years of training in Western Anatomy with the principles/techniques of acupuncture and traditional Chinese Medicine. My education began through dissection and study of human anatomy at Columbia University. It continued through my years as a physical therapist and training in peripheral nerve and myofascial entrapment releases. After studying acupuncture, I was able to successfully combine my knowledge of anatomy and physiology with acupuncture. When an acupuncture map is superimposed over an anatomical nerve chart, you will find 86% of commonly used classical acupuncture points lie on or near peripheral nerves.

Jennifer Layne Mcdonald, Acupuncturist in Montclair
“My approach to acupuncture is based on the release of constriction and increasing circulation in the body. Energy is constantly moving through the body in many forms. Blood flow, nerve signal activity and respiratory gas exchange are all examples of this movement. When energy is circulating properly, it isn't felt. The system is at harmony, balanced and strong. On the other hand, when circulation becomes blocked, stuck or deficient, dysfunction arises. Through acupuncture, overall circulation and nerve conduction are increased to provide an optimum environment in which the body can heal itself.

Acupuncture in Essex County - is it right for me?
Acupuncture is based on the concepts of oriental medicine or traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and is one of the oldest healing practices in the world. Essex County acupuncturists are health care professionals who evaluate and treat the many conditions, aches and pains that respond to acupuncture.

Acupuncturists insert very fine acupuncture needles into a number of trigger points on your body. The purpose of the needles is to stimulate acupuncture points or meridians. The needles do not inject any substance into your body and are so fine as to be virtually impossible to feel. In some cases, acupuncture may be accompanied by electrical stimulation or the burning of moxa, a form of heat therapy. Or use acupressure, where physical pressure is applied by hand or elbow to trigger points with the aim of clearing blockages in these meridians.

'Accupuncture' and 'Accupuncturist' are common mis-spellings.
Credentials for Essex County licensed acupuncturists?
A licensed acupuncturist in Essex County needs a minimum of two years college education and must complete three years of professional training and pass the State's approved licensing examination. The three year program includes both theory and hands-on clinical practice. Most States' professional training programs are accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM) and by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM).
