Acupuncture is the art and science of correcting imbalances or disharmonies in the body and mind by balancing the body’s physical and energetic factors, and promoting the free flow of Qi and blood. Optimal health is dependent on the free flow of Qi and blood throughout the body. Pain and illness occur when there are blockages or imbalances in these factors in a particular area or throughout the body. At various locations along each of the various energy meridians are specific acupoints where the meridian’s energy can be manipulated in different ways. This stimulation of points brings both improved health and relief from pain.

Dr. Peter Zilahy has been practicing complementary medicine for the past 30 years. He has an extensive knowledge in functional neurology and medicine along with acupuncture and clinical nutrition. Dr. Zilahy prides himself in being “ahead of the curve” when it comes to natural methods. For example, in the early eighties he was advising patients to stay away from transfatty acids and lowering cholesterol when a cholesterol reading of 300 was normal. In 1989 he was one of the first practioners in the state to implement an exercise center for spinal conditions when the standard of care was bedrest.

With experience learning in environments such as teaching hospitals in China, to the VA Hospital in New Haven, my education is steeped with both tradition and innovation. As an avid yoga practitioner and teacher, I have experienced first-hand how important the connection between body and mind can be. I studied and trained in Acupuncture and classic Chinese Medicine both in United State and in China. I completed a Doctoral Degree of Medicine in the specialty of Acupuncture & Moxibustion and Tuina, and studied under a number of renowned Chinese medicine masters. I have lots clinical experience in both China, where there is a high volume of patients, and in the United States. My ongoing study covers frontier techniques. For example, Acupuncture spirit: it is pulse-regulating acupuncture technique from Ling Shu. By changing pulse, it balances and regulates Qi to gain the strongest result from mildest stimulation by smaller and fewer needles.

I specialize fertility and women's health. What I really care about is how my patients can reach their goal efficiently, and thus have a better quality of life. I was born in China, attended medical schools in both continents. I have twenty plus years of clinic experience, with hundreds of appointments monthly. Since the medicine I practice is holistic, I start my treatment with pre-clinical consultation. By doing so, I learn about my patients from head to toe, past to present, and establish a rapport.
