She is graduated from South Baylo University and received a Ph.D Degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. She uses RSN acupuncture method (for Nerve Entrapment Syndrome) and Dry Needling as well as traditional acupuncture technique to provide integrative care for her patients. She attended a special course of Anatomy in Koonming, China and also studied in Korea with Dr. Myung Seok Ryu, president of the RSN Acupuncture Association. She also has a certificate for completing the course of studying prescribed by the Pulse Regulating Acupuncture.

At Harmony Community Wellness Center, our mission is to provide affordable, high quality acupuncture to the North County community. We do this by offering individualized treatments in a quiet, open community setting. We ask you to decide what you can afford on a sliding scale ($20-40). We want you to come often enough to really be able to get better and stay better, and the sliding scale is our way of helping you make that commitment. Farahnaz Akhavan has worked in the alternative medicine and health care field for over 20 years. She worked in the field of OB/GYN and women's health for several years before becoming an alternative medicine practitioner. She also worked with the united nations as health care professional for two years. She has helped chronically ill patients for numerous years through pain management and nutritional / herbal consultation. She has post graduate training in pain management, migraine headache, and arthritis pain. She accepts attorney's lien for auto and work injuries.
