I specialize in internal medicine, dermatology, gynecology and gastroenterology. I have a doctorate from China Medical University and gained experience from 10+ years of practice as a Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine, working with the best specialists at the Wan Fang Hospital, the Taiwan City Hospital, and the Hospital of China Medical University. As a licensed acupuncturist I received my Master’s degree from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, San Diego. I obtained comprehensive training and clinical experience in orthopedics, dermatology, and women's health. After receiving my degree, I embarked on an exciting journey to Nepal, as a volunteer with the Acupuncture Relief Project in Nepal where I provided healthcare for those suffering from many ailments. I received a PhD after 11 years of training at Hebei Medical University and Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and their affiliated hospitals. With 30+ years of professional experiences in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, I published 36 peer-reviewed journal papers & 24 books on Acupuncture, Gynecology, Mental & Emotional Disorders, philosophy of Chinese Medicine, etc. I was Professor and Graduate Adviser of Shanghai University of TCM, Guest Professor of University of Vienna, and Visiting Faculty of UC Santa Cruz & UC San Diego. Soyoung Choi, L.Ac, has been treating patients for more than 50 years with Dr. Sun K. Choi who is her father in both the United States and and Korea, and one of the earliest generations who established Oriental Medicine in Los Angeles. I am a practitioner of traditional Japanese acupuncture and have studied extensively with master acupuncturist Koji Ichihashi of the Kurumadani School of Japan. Japanese acupuncture technique involves shallow insertion of very thin, delicate needles into points along the Meridians of the body. It is a relaxing spa-like treatment that is gentle and essentially pain free. This style incorporates medical Shiatsu massage while the needles are in the body.
